Visit the Regional Science Center!

Visit the MSUM Regional Science Center, adjacent to Buffalo River State Park! On the afternoon of Saturday, August 26, Regional Science Center staff invite new and returning students to visit the Regional Science Center and participate in the following activities, along with exploring the trails on your own:

Yoga in the Wild! - CANCELED
Enjoy a beginner, friendly yoga class in the beauty of the Buffalo River Valley! Yoga is for everyone and can accommodate all body types and ages. This class is a friendly introduction for beginners. So whether you've been practicing all your life or just want to try it once in your life, come check it out! Yoga mats will be provided on a first come first serve basis. A short introduction to additional recreation opportunities at Buffalo River State Park will follow.

Over the River and Through the Woods!
Come learn about the exciting science research going on at MSUM's Regional Science Center! Adjacent to Buffalo River State Park, the center is 400 acres of Prairie, Woods and River. MSUM students & faculty have been studying the natural history of this site for 30 years! Join Science Center staff for a tour of some of the current research projects and ongoing investigations taking place here. Be sure to wear sturdy walking shoes as we will be walking sometimes uneven trails.

Directions/Transportation:
Limited transportation will be provided between the CMU Parking Lot and the Regional Science Center. You can also get a group of friends together and drive directly to the Science Center. It’s about a 20 minute drive. Take Highway 10 toward Detroit Lakes. Just after State Highway 9 and prior to Hawley, you will see signs on the right for Buffalo River State Park. Turn right, pass under the railroad tracks and turn left on the dirt road prior to the State Park entrance. You will see a sign for the MSUM Regional Science Center. Follow the dirt road to the Science Center.

1pm: First Shuttle Leaves CMU Parking Lot for Science Center
1:30pm: First Set of Programs at Science Center
2pm: Second Shuttle Leaves CMU Parking Lot for Science Center
3:00pm: Second Set of Programs at Science Center
3:15pm: First Shuttle Leaves Science Center for CMU
4:45pm: Second Shuttle Leaves Science Center for CMU
5pm: Last Shuttle Leaves Science Center for CMU
